In addition in 2001, Currie Communications Ltd. was named a Canadian Event Industry Awards finalist for the “Best Fund Raising Event” and was Runner Up for their most prestigious “Producer of the Year” award.
In addition, in 2001, Joan Currie, President of Currie Communications was invited to speak at the national Canadian Financial Planners Conference on the role Corporate Social Responsibility and Community Investment Planning is playing in today's marketplace. The Conference Board of Canada has named Corporate Social Responsibility as THE business issue of the 21 st Century.
In 1999, we were asked by Grant MacEwan Community College's Public Relations Program Director to teach an event management course.
We have been in business for 12 years. The owner of the
company Joan Currie has 23 years of experience in event
management, professional services marketing, communications,
sponsorship development and public relations. Prior to forming
Currie Communications, Joan Currie was among other things,
Director of Marketing for Deloitte & Touche, chartered
accountants and Director of Development for Edmonton Opera.
