Currie Communications is seeking an Event Manager to work
with the organization on a full-time basis for a contract period
of 11 months, effective immediately. Contract could possibly
lead into a full time position. Salary is negotiable. Interested

JOB Opportunity – Event Manager
General Overview:
Reporting directly to the President and Managing Partner of
Currie Communications, this position is responsible for
providing and executing professional event management services
to any/all clients. As an Event Manager, this position leads by
example in their work ethic, professional conduct and seamless
approach to getting the job done.
Duties & Responsibilities:
• Positive attitude, accountable and takes management
responsibilities seriously.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Self-starter with the ability to work with little or no
supervision, execute deadlines and deliver results.
• Willingness to take direction and manage constructive
criticism.
• Punctual, reliable and demonstrates the willingness to go the
extra mile.
• Willing to further education and professional development.
• Flexibility to work evenings and weekends when required – i.e.
Tradeshows, conferences, gala events etc. (overtime and out of
town work when required).
• Strong project management skills to plan, execute and follow
up on multiple events simultaneously
• Ability to construct proposals, execute critical paths,
implement budgets, manage internal and external relationships
which may include high profile clients, suppliers, sponsors,
speakers and others that play a role in functional or event
practices.
• Manages all logistical matters relative to a successful event
including but not limited to invitations, tracking expenditures,
client databases, hospitality venues, internal and external
communication, tracking follow-up activities and pipeline
management to measure results of events.
• Flexibility to manage events varying in scope from being
repetitive in nature to complex.
• Responsible for coaching and mentoring junior planners and
administrative staff needed to execute events
• Manager seeks input on critical decisions from the Managing
Partner and/or other staff as required.
Requirements & Qualifications:
• A minimum of four years of Event Management experience with
strong communication skills (verbal and written) and proficiency
in Microsoft Office
• Certification as CMP or CMM would be an asset but is not a
requirement.
• Demonstrates professional work ethic.
• Well groomed for business/casual business office (no athletic
gear or sweat pants/.shirts, piercings, noticeable tattoos,
etc.)
• Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently
and meet tight deadlines.
• Due to the nature of the ‘Alberta Market’ requirements, long
hours may be required from time to time.
