Joan Currie, President, General Services Partner

Since 1993, Joan Currie has been providing independent event management services and communication support to businesses and organizations. Joan is noted for her excellence in understanding an organization’s objectives and translating them into the events she organizes. Joan has a proven track record for creating unique event concepts and for the fine attention to detail required to produce superior events. Joan has experience with all types of events including anniversary and opening celebrations, conferences, symposiums, trade shows, information fairs, seminars, fund raising galas, awards shows and auctions. Joan is also excellent in developing strategic plans, critical paths and budgets. Prior to opening Currie Communications Ltd in 1993, Joan was Director of Marketing for Deloitte & Touche, chartered accountants and Director of Development for Edmonton Opera.

 

Clare Denman, Senior Manager

Clare Denman has recently joined Currie Communications and brings a diverse experience in marketing and creative show production. Clare began her career in live theatre production and tours, and later became the executive producer and co-creator of several hundred syndicated television shows. She successfully marketed her productions in over 5 countries. Clare’s event organizational skills include program openings, job fairs, information sessions, and public speaking engagements. She collaborated with the Retail Council of Canada and CIRUS (U of A) to create the first ‘Retail Job Fair’ in Alberta. The event was featured on the front page of the Edmonton Journal’s business section. Clare also chaired the committee on youth for Canada Career Week, and assisted in raising the level of participation of over 1500 youth and educators at the event. Prior to joining Currie Communications, Clare was the public relations and marketing officer at Bredin Institute.

 

Cathy Kremer, Manager

Cathy Kremer is the newest member of the Currie Communications team.  As a recent graduate of the Special Events Management program at NAIT, Cathy is expanding her repertoire as a Project Coordinator from the local Tourism industry, with 5 years experience developing award-winning signature events and publications with the Edmonton Regional Tourism Group, the City of St. Albert, and Sturgeon County.  A graduate of Marketing from NAIT and the Travel Consutltant program from Grant MacEwan, Cathy has continued her interest in professional development while raising two children.
